As we have seen earlier, the Holy Days are grouped into three major pilgrimage feasts. The second of these is called the Feast of Weeks, also known as Pentecost, which required the Israelites to make a second journey to Jerusalem. The forty-nine days (seven Sabbaths) between the Feast of Firstfruits and the Feast of Weeks is known as Counting the Omer.
Leviticus 23:15 - 22
[15] And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven sabbaths shall be complete: [16] Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the LORD. [17] Ye shall bring out of your habitations two wave loaves of two tenth deals: they shall be of fine flour; they shall be baken with leaven; they are the firstfruits unto the LORD. [18] And ye shall offer with the bread seven lambs without blemish of the first year, and one young bullock, and two rams: they shall be for a burnt offering unto the LORD, with their meat offering, and their drink offerings, even an offering made by fire, of sweet savour unto the LORD. [19] Then ye shall sacrifice one kid of the goats for a sin offering, and two lambs of the first year for a sacrifice of peace offerings. [20] And the priest shall wave them with the bread of the firstfruits for a wave offering before the LORD, with the two lambs: they shall be holy to the LORD for the priest. [21] And ye shall proclaim on the selfsame day, that it may be an holy convocation unto you: ye shall do no servile work therein: it shall be a statute for ever in all your dwellings throughout your generations. [22] And when ye reap the harvest of your land, thou shalt not make clean riddance of the corners of thy field when thou reapest, neither shalt thou gather any gleaning of thy harvest: thou shalt leave them unto the poor, and to the stranger: I am the LORD your God.
The Feast of Weeks is directly connected to the Feast of Firstfruits. The firstfruits marked the beginning of the harvest; Pentecost marked its end. This feast represents the spiritual harvest — beginning with Yahawashi, the firstfruit of the resurrection, and those who believed on Him.
Revelation 14:14 - 15
[14] And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle. [15] And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe.
Before His ascension, Yahawashi instructed the disciples to wait in Jerusalem for the Holy Spirit:
John 14:16
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever.
John 14:26
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things.
John 15:26
But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, eventhe Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:
On the 50th day after the resurrection, on Pentecost, the Holy Spirit descended upon the believers:
Acts 2:1 - 4
[1] And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. [2] And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. [3] And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. [4] And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Acts 2:37 - 41
[37] Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? [38] Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. [39] For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. [40] And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. [41] Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
The Feast of Pentecost signifies unity through the Spirit and the empowering of the saints to spread the truth across nations. Speaking in different tongues was not for chaos, but to bring clarity to those scattered abroad.
Pentecost (Greek: Pentēkostē, meaning “fiftieth”) always fell on the first day of the week — the day after the seventh Sabbath.
Isaiah 28:11
For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.
Joel 2:28 - 32
[28] And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: [29] And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit. [30] And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. [31] The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come. [32] And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.
Under the old covenant, Pentecost was marked by grain offerings. Under the new covenant, Yahawashi is the firstfruit, and we offer ourselves spiritually.
Hebrews 10:8 - 10
[8] Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law; [9] Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second. [10] By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
1st Corinthians 15:20 - 23
[20] But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. [21] For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. [22] For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. [23] But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming.
1st Corinthians 16:15
I beseech you, brethren, (ye know the house of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of Achaia, and that they have addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints,)
James 1:18
Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.
We now present ourselves as the spiritual firstfruits of YAHAWAH through Yahawashi (Jesus):
Romans 12:1 - 2
[1] I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. [2] And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
John 4:23
But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
Zephaniah 2:1
Gather yourselves together, yea, gather together, O nation not desired;
Hebrews 10:25
Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
Final Thoughts
The Feast of Weeks is not abolished — only the sacrifices are. We continue to observe this day in reverence and spiritual joy, as we honor Yahawashi (Jesus) as the firstfruit and prepare for the final harvest. This holy day calls for unity, repentance, thanksgiving, and praise.
